Born in the village of Jamma'in, located in Nablus, in 1949.
Earned a Bachelor’s degree in English and English literature from the University of Jordan in 1972.
Joined Aljazeera television channel since its inception as a producer. He then became an assistant editor-in-chief and worked on documentaries, both producing and directing several of them. He became the editor-in-chief of Al-Jazeera.net in English when it was launched in 2000, then, in 2004, he became the editor-in-chief of the Arabic Al-Jazeera channel. In 2010, he became advisor to the chairman of Al Jazeera Media Network.
